Ethnic minorities
Poland was a multicultural society before WWII. However, over 70 years of totalitarian rules has almost completely eradicated ethnic diversity from Poland. As a consequence, Poles struggle to understand the importance of tolerance towards ethnic and social minorities. The Romani (Gypsies) and Lemkos (Łemkowie in Polish) represent few ethnic minorities inhabiting modern Poland. It is well recognized that in Poland ethnic minorities have been subjected to the maltreatment quite often. Hence, active work is needed to empower people from ethnic minorities living in Poland.
